Goodwood Brewing was created in 2005 by Ted Mitzlaff. Their approach to beer was heavily influenced by the bourbon culture of Kentucky where the company was birthed. Essentially every beer they make comes in contact with various kinds of wood (most often ex-bourbon barrels).
THE FLAVOR PROFILE
Subtle caramel and chocolate lead into a pleasantly nutty finish. Medium-plus body and not particularly sweet nor dry, the addition of walnuts and oak adds a complexity not typically seen in this beer style.
CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
Toasty, robust and with a bit of chocolate maltiness, the English brown ale is a meal in a glass, but offers unlimited opportunities for memorable food pairings. Neither flashy nor boring, the English brown is a beer with enough variation to keep devotees ordering them time and time again.
