THE FLAVOR PROFILE

Funky molasses, orange peel, caramelized bananas and brown sugar penetrate the nose.  Medium-plus body and drier than the aroma suggests.  Expect baking spice, cream from the ex-bourbon barrels, and coffee.

CATEGORY DESCRIPTION

Rum is a liquor made by distilling sugarcane molasses or pure sugarcane juice.  The distillate, a clear liquid, is usually aged in oak barrels.  Most rums are produced in the Caribbean and the Americas.  There are numerous styles of rum and they are typically delineated by region, distillation method, age, and sugar source.
