For two friends, Tony Cartlidge and Glen Browne, it began in 1980 in an undistinguished Napa Valley garage when they set out to build a wine company from scratch. Their aim; seek out the best vineyards, harvest the best grapes and make the best wine that they possibly could.
Beautiful nose reflecting subtle oak with no shortage of deep dark fruit. Supple vanilla blackberry on the palate, tannic but not to the point of salivation. Retains good structure with a medium finish.
Known as the king of red wine grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys the same regal status in California as it does in its native home, Bordeaux. The most widely planted red wine grape in California, Cabernet Sauvignon commands the highest price per ton and is the dominant grape found in some of California’s most prestigious brands. California Cabernet tends to be more fruit-forward and mellow, with rich dark fruit notes of blueberry and blackberry as well as earth, dust, mocha and cedar. Expect moderate to high tannin levels with concentrated flavors.
