The distillery was founded in 1826 by James Allardes as the second distillery to apply for a license to legally produce whisky under the Excise Act of 1823. Glendronach has changed hands throughout the years multiple times, and is currently owned by Brown-Forman.
THE FLAVOR PROFILE
Rich, creamy, silky-smooth. Warm, rich oak and sherry sweetness, full mouth feel, raisins and soft fruits. Spicy with medium length and a dry finish.
CATEGORY DESCRIPTION
To qualify as single malt scotch, a whisky must have been distilled at a single distillery using a pot still distillation process and made from a mash of malted barley. As with any Scotch whisky, a single malt Scotch must be distilled in Scotland and matured in oak casks for at least three years, although most single malts are matured longer.
