German brewer David Gottlieb Jüngling immigrated to the United States from Aldingen, Germany in 1828 and started “Eagle Brewery” just a year later in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. The brewery was renamed D.G. Yuengling & Son in 1873 after David’s son Frederick joined the company. Yuengling is the oldest operating brewery in the United States.
